Practical Support

We believe that it is essential for a young person to feel comfortable and at home within their surroundings. In order to facilitate the settling in process and avoid any feelings of displacement that the young person may experience when moving into a new home and to ensure they take advantage of all their local amenities, we provide orientation through a guided tour of the area, information on local transport links, useful amenities and health and leisure facilities.

Educational Support

At Lloydscare we aim to encourage and provide access to a wealth of resources that will enhance the young person’s education, training and employment opportunities. These include:

•   Acquiring formal qualifications such as GSCEs, A-levels, Advanced Extension Awards (AEAs), general entry
    qualifications, GNVQs etc.

•   Higher education courses

•   Vocational skills training

•   Other Adult Education courses

•   Employment and training agencies

•   Youth activity community-based groups and homes

•   Sports facilities - leisure centre access is available, which will encourage physical exercise, social interactions
    and participation in team activities.

We have strong links with Connexions and education providers who are able to provide information, advice and support for our young people as well as many opportunities for training and employment.

Health Care

Our caseworkers will ensure that all of the young person’s health requirements are being met. Appointments will be arranged with the young person’s GP, dentist, health visitor and optician.

If the young person is required to take any medication, the Caseworker will request to see repeat prescriptions and make enquiries to ensure that the young person is taking their medication regularly and properly. All medical information will be immediately relayed to the young person’s social worker.
