Safeguarding and Case Management

Safeguarding is paramount to our care. We realise that safeguarding young people is about much more than child protection. It means taking a comprehensive approach that prevents young people from any potential source of harm. We aim to protect our young people from harm and danger without hindering their potential and need for independence. As well as offering support and training to our young people on how to keep themselves safe, we have clearly defined policies and procedures in place to ensure that all staff understand how to safeguard our young people at all times and actions to be taken if and when we believe a young person may not be safe.

Each young person is allocated a Lloydscare caseworker who works in partnership with each young person’s social worker to assess and meet their needs. These needs will be outlined in the young person’s Individual Personal Plan and our caseworker will prioritise key areas of support required. They will give guidance and practical assistance to the young person and engage them in our Independence Programme with the aim of empowering them to make positive informed life choices.

Caseworkers will advocate on behalf of the young people, to assist them in accessing services and if necessary can help to facilitate contact with their social worker and will act as an intermediary through whom various agencies can interact with the young person. For example, caseworkers will ensure that the young person upholds their commitment to their social workers, probation officers, youth offending team officers, educational agencies and family (where appropriate).

Lloydscare are very team focused and therefore the allocated caseworker will closely supervise and share relevant information with all of our key workers that come into contact with our young people. We are committed to having continuity of staff in order that they sustain rapport and trust with our young people. Together we will work through the young person’s Individual Personal Plan and use our practical Independence Program to achieve positive and tangible results.

Our caseworkers receive regular supervision from our Operations Manager and together they regularly review each individual young person’s case to ensure we continue to provide the best quality care possible.
